It’s a good time to be a Beatles fan these days, since so much of the band’s work is getting lots of new attention for turning 50 years old. The latest is probably the Beatles project they actually had the least to do with: Yellow Submarine, the animated classic which is in the midst of a theatrical re-release celebrating its 50th anniversary. Richard Abramowitz, CEO of Abramorama, the company releasing the film in conjunction with its various other rights holders, had this to say about the re-release:
“We’re thrilled to have the privilege of bringing Yellow Submarine back to the big screen so that 3 generations of happy Beatles fans can enjoy the ground-breaking animation and classic tunes and that have long been part of our collective cultural DNA.”
You can see whether the Yellow Submarine is coming to your town at the film’s official site here, which curiously seems peppered with postings for 4:20 showings. And take a look at a trailer for the re-release below.
