Microsoft evidently forewent a big publicity push for this service, but since it’s essentially Netflix for video games such a push probably wasn’t necessary. It’s Xbox Game Pass, and it’s now providing Xbox One users with cloud access to over a hundred games at ten bucks a month.
For now, the Xbox Game Pass is just available to Xbox One users now, but the technology could potentially allow for subscribers beyond that platform. One developer involved with the project characterized the company’s goals like this:
“We believe there is going to be 2 billion gamers in the world, and our goal is to reach every one of them.”
For now though, it’s just for members of the One Club, who have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor and start playing some streaming games now.
