In the western hemisphere, summer has drawn to a close with Labor Day weekend having come and gone. So it very nearly qualifies as psychological and emotional (self-) torture to think about sand castles in early September, but the Guinness Book of World Records has given me no choice but to do so, with a new record holder for the world’s tallest sand castle having been constructed in Duisburg, Germany.
What can you say about the world’s tallest sand castle? It’s 54 feet tall and made of 3,500 tons of sand, depicting landmarks from all over the planet in its ambitious design, the product of an entire team of designers hailing from a total of ten different countries. It’s nice to know that even in 2017 people from all over the world can work together on something like this – you don’t see too many white nationalists in the Guinness Book of World Records.
