At Steveston Pizza in Richmond, British Columbia, there’s a pizza on the menu that breaks a previously set record for price. Topped with lobster thermidor, tiger prawns, black Alaskan cod, smoked salmon, and Russian Osetra caviar, it all adds up to a per-pizza price of $450.
The new Steveston Pizza pie was invented by the joint’s owner, Nader Hatami. Its $450 asking price more than doubles that of the previous Guinness World Record holder for most expensive pizza—Gordon Ramsey’s white truffle pizza. At this rate of pizza inflation, there will be a $1,000 pizza out there somewhere in a couple years.
According to this recent article on the new record holder for the title of world’s most expensive pizza, only eight people have ordered the pizza so far, which means eight people have some really expensive leftovers in their refrigerators right now. And in case you were wondering, Steveston Pizza also offers up other unorthodox pizzas, including a brie/wasabi chicken/mustard/seaweed combo, that are more reasonably priced.
