We live in a new world these days, where even fast food chains feel the impetus to get involved in national politics. The net neutrality debate stemming from the FCC’s recent repeal of net neutrality protections might not seem to have anything to do with cheeseburgers, but Burger King was compelled to get involved anyway, with an ad explaining the concept of net neutrality through an ad called “Whopper Neutrality.”
You may not realize it, but every Burger King in the country has “Whopper Neutrality” protections, since all Whopper sandwiches are delivered at the same rate, without speedier delivery for higher prices. It’s easy to take something like that for granted, but the commercial shows what would happen if those protections were taken away – spoiler alert, it’s not great:
Just in case you want the point spelled out clearly, Burger King explains its point of view like this:
“The BURGER KING® brand believes the Internet should be like the WHOPPER® sandwich: the same for everyone.”
And if you want your internet to stay neutral just like Whoppers, you can sign this petition to help put those protections back in place.
