Not everybody in Hollywood loves movies, but the people who do really love them. That is how the people at film magazine Little White Lies have managed to fill an entire book of “movie people” answering the question (which also serves as the book’s title), What I Love About Movies.
The movie people featured in What I Love About Movies include famous filmmakers like Francis Ford Coppola, the Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Steven Soderbergh, Pedro Almodóvar, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino, and Spike Jonze, along with big stars like Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Kristen Stewart, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Tom Hardy. Here’s a sample, from Noah director Darren Aronofsky:
“The close-up. It’s an overlooked great invention of the 20th century. The fact that one can stare into someone’s eyes without being self-conscious is a great gift to all of us. It’s why I love cinema.”
Likewise, if you love cinema you’ll probably be interested in What I Love About Movies, which is currently available for the price of $40 at the book’s website here.
