HBO is the home of quality entertainment on television, but even they are not immune to the siren song of 70s scifi thriller remakes. And so we have J.J. Abrams’ take on Westworld, the Michael Crichton killer robot cowboy movie from 1973, coming next year to HBO.
Now, though, we have a teaser for Westworld, which clearly demonstrates that the cool-but-slightly-schlocky atmosphere of the original movie has been replaced with super-slick special effects and a much bigger dose of mystery, as well as a hint that the mindless robots of the original movie are going to have personalities, lives, and stories of their own.
