A quick primer in case you’re not up on your soccer slang: “Parking the bus” in soccer refers to when a team puts practically their whole on-field on their half of the field in order to clamp down on scoring from the other side. I’m telling you that so you can appreciate the new Nike Football commercial starring footballer Wayne Rooney, even if you never watch soccer.
The commercial takes the old soccer expression “parking the bus” and makes it literal, with a huge, Duel-esque bus replacing Rooney’s opposing players. Then, Rooney smashes the ball through the bus, scoring a perfect goal. Unthinkable, right? Exactly – the campaign slogan is “Attempt The Unthinkable.”
