Remember those weird toe shoes that started popping up a while back? Now, the company that made those Five Fingers shoes, Vibram, is back with another radical approach to footwear. It’s the Vibram Furoshiki, so-named for a traditional Japanese cloth-wrap technique that inspired the shoe’s unusual (to say the least) construction.
The Vibram Furoshiki is basically a sole surrounded by stretchable fins (as seen in the photo above) that you wrap around your foot in order to put on the shoe. As you might guess, it’s extremely lightweight, and it comes in a variety of different color options – and unless I’m mistaken, you don’t even need to wear socks with them!
You can get better acquainted with the Vibram Furoshiki at the special site set up by Vibram specifically for the shoe, which can be found right here. They start at $160, but just think of the money you’ll save on socks.
