Thanks to the internet, the world is much smaller than it used to be, which means there are millions more people giving holiday presents to people from whom they are separated by thousands of miles. The United States Postal Service has recently unveiled a pretty cool ornament for just those situations: The USPS Most Wonderful Ornament, which alerts you when your gift sent through the mail is opened.
The USPS Most Wonderful Ornament uses WiFi to keep all passers-by alerted to the status of whatever shipped gift you sync it up with, with different colors representing different stages of delivery.
Now for the bad news: Despite the Postal Service’s official unveiling of the USPS Most Wonderful Ornament, it appears to be in the prototype stage and not quite ready for this holiday season. But assuming we’re all still alive and sending gifts to loved ones across the country next year, perhaps it will be readily available then. In the meantime, check it out at the official USPS site right here.
