Back in the 18th century, a clockmaker by the name of Abraham Louis Breguet came up with something called a “sympathique watch,” which was a pocket watch that would be regularly corrected by a precision pendulum clock, so that it could keep more or less perfect time in the user’s pocket. At Baselworld 2018, Urwerk has unveiled a new clock/watch combo that operates along the same principle, but with the pendulum clock replaced with an “Atomic Master Clock,” otherwise known as the Urwerk AMC.
Details on the Urwerk AMC seem to be a bit scarce for now, but the important thing is it looks extremely cool, albeit not like something you’d want to take to the airport. You can see how it works in the video below:
There you have it — the Urwerk AMC is a 21st century pocket watch with perfect time courtesy of our old friend the atom. You can read a little bit more on the item right here, and stay tuned for more information in the near future.
