My sources tell me that in Europe, candy bar spreads are pretty common – spreadable concoctions made to taste like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers, Milky Way, Mars Bars, and more. Reese’s Spread has been available in North America for a while, and now it’s being joined by Twix Spread.
Twix Spread is made in the UK, which I know because the label says it’s mixed “With Crunchy Biscuit Pieces,” which carries a somewhat different connotation in the USA and Canada. Still, it’s a Twix bar you can spread on toast, or eat straight out of the jar, so any linguistic issues one might have are pretty much insignificant.
Twix Spread is reportedly available in select stockists in the US, so keep an eye out for it at your local grocery store or wherever finer, spreadable goods are sold. And, just for the hell of it, here’s an old Twix commercial that will hopefully encourage you to get the whole squad together this weekend.
