I’m going to be totally honest. I don’t really know how much a consumer-grade submarine normally costs. But I do know that the Triton 6600/2 can travel deeper than any other personal sub can, purportedly up to more than a mile underneath the surface of the water. Which, in theory at least, makes it worth its big ticket price tag.
The Triton 6600/2, in addition to its 6,600-foot depth capacity, can carry two people 3.5 miles per hour and an emergency oxygen supply that can keep them breathing for up to 96 hours. Air conditioning, high-powered LEDs are also included, along with room for more lights should you wish to indulge your inner Steve Zissou and take some photos and/or video while you’re exploring the underwater depths.
Now, about that price tag: the Triton 6600/2 costs a cool $5.5 million at the official Triton site right here. While you’re there, you can also get a lot more information on the sub and what it can do.
