Everyone born in the 80s and early 90s remembers Oregon Trail, the ancient computer game that allowed players to simulate the real-life Oregon Trail of the frontier days, complete with deaths by dysentery and mysterious gravestones. Travel Oregon has whipped up a modern-day version of the game for the modern-day traveler to Oregon, called, fittingly enough, Travel Oregon.
The basic gameplay of Travel Oregon seems to be more or less identical to that of the classic Apple IIe Oregon Trail, but with the Portlandia-esque twist of old-time pioneers having been replaced with millennial hipsters. Is it still possible to die in the game? You’ll have to play it to find out.
You can do that by checking out the Travel Oregon site right here. And now that you have more than a 50-minute class period to play the game, you might actually be able to make it to Oregon after all.
