Everyone knows that the secondary sneaker market is ridiculous, with coveted pairs selling for unimaginable four-figure sums. But now things have gotten even more absurd, as LEGO sneaker wizard Tom Yoo begins selling his signature LEGO sneaker replicas for about how much the real things sell after retail.
Tom Yoo’s LEGO sneakers include ten different styles in their first wave, with the cheapest kicks going for $2,000. Even more coveted styles like the Air Yeezy 2 and the Air Mag will be even more expensive, with price tags at $2,500 and $3,000, respectively. Yoo’s creations will come in a laser-cut box modeled after the Air Jordan 3 containers, and each individually numbered piece will have its own certificate of authenticity.
Also, Tom Yoo has pledged to give 10% of the proceeds of his latest project to two different charities: The Downtown Women’s Center and the Union Rescue Mission. So if enough people actually get on board this crazy train, some decent money for good causes might get raised. Pieces are said to be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and for more info you can email the artist’s organization at [email protected].
