Apparently vertical record players are so hot right now. It was just a couple weeks ago that I was writing up the Floating Turntable, and now here I am writing up another example of the form, this one from designer Roy Harpaz. It’s called TOC, and it has a lot to offer besides its novel vertical formation.
For example, TOC has specially designed spherical bearings that allow even warped records to be played flawlessly. Then there’s the sensor that scans and catalogs physical tracks on the record for effortless, digital-like skipping and backing up of an analog format. Of course, it also looks great, with an unusual and stylish appearance that looks like no other record player – even the vertical ones.
