‘TIE Fighter’: ‘Star Wars’ Short Fan Film Goes Viral (Video)

Fans of the Star Wars franchise are known to be so voracious for Star Wars related content that they will even gobble up stuff that some other fan made, rather than some official emissary of George Lucas and his outer space friends. That’s definitely the case with TIE Fighter, a new short animated film made by Star Wars fan Paul Michael Johnson, as evidenced by the fact that it’s already accumulated more than 1.2 million hits on YouTube in just one day.

In an interesting case of artistic inspiration, the chief inspiration for TIE Fighter would appear to be 1980s anime. But it looks cool and it will definitely scratch that Star Wars itch that you might have until the release of the next movie, scheduled for release in just a little under nine months.
