Books are awesome, but they don’t really do anything, you know? Kelli Anderson has developed a book that might not be as fun to read as your copy of A Confederacy of Dunces, but it can take photos a lot better than other books can: It’s called This Book is a Camera.
This Book is a Camera was written/designed to demonstrate the versatile capability of paper, which can be used in conjunction with the strategic implementation of light and dark to produce rudimentary photographs (the process is achieved with a device called a “pinhole camera“). Besides the folded paper camera, the book also includes instructions on how to operate it, five paper “film” sheets, a lightproof bag, and a display-worthy foil cover.
Currently on backorder at Kelli Anderson’s site here, you can see This Book is a Camera in action in the video below. It costs $29, which is pretty expensive for a book — but not too bad for a camera.
