First off, if you’re not familiar with the work of Philippe Petit, you definitely should be. He’s the high-wire artist who is most famous for walking between the two towers of the World Trade Center back in 1974, and subject of the excellent documentary from a few years back entitled Man on Wire. And now his story (or at least part of it) is getting the fictional feature film treatment, courtesy of director Robert Zemeckis, in the form of The Walk, an international teaser for which has recently hit the internet.
The teaser for The Walk begins with a cool, vintage Zemeckis impossible camera shot tracking up the side of one of the World Trade Center towers. Then Joseph Gordon-Levitt walks onto the roof. After that, one starts to get a sense of how vertiginous this movie will be on the big screen, especially in 3D, which in my mind makes it a successful teaser.
The Walk doesn’t hit theaters until October of next year, but in the meantime you can check out the teaser below and the film’s official website here.
