In 1845, the crews of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were lost trying to find the Northwest Passage. A few years back novelist Dan Simmons wrote a novel that imagined what could have happened to these doomed ships, with a liberal dose of monster-horror fantasy. Now, The Terror has been adapted into a miniseries by executive producer Ridley Scott for AMC, a teaser for which has made its way online.
The teaser for The Terror is only 20 seconds long, but it packs a lot of creepy arctic monster vibes into those 20 seconds. Here’s an official plot synopsis:
“Inspired by a true story, The Terror centers on the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage into unchartered territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction. Frozen, isolated and stuck at the end of the earth, The Terror highlights all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements, but with each other.”
There you have it, folks. You can watch the teaser for The Terror below, and to see the whole 10-episode series, tune in to AMC on March 26th, 2018, when the two-hour season premiere is slated to air.
