‘The Staircase’: Yet Another True Crime Doc on Netflix (Trailer)

Netflix may not be great for film culture, but it is pumping a reliable flow of stand-up comedy specials and true crime documentaries into the marketplace. I haven’t even watched Making a Murderer yet, and it’s almost too late for me to catch up with Evil Genius, but now The Staircase is already on the way. Here’s the deceptively simple official description from Netflix itself:

“On December 9th, 2001, Kathleen Peterson was found dead at the bottom of a staircase. Did he do it?”

I have no idea, Netflix! Why are you asking me? But in any case, I guess we’ll all find out together starting on June 8th, when all ten episodes of the series will hit the streaming platform. Also, some additional FYI for you: Apparently this was first released back in 2005, but has been expanded with new footage and (presumably) new information. In any case, here’s the trailer:
