Hugh Jackman is retired from playing Wolverine, but he’s about to play another man with a penchant for dishing out punishment while wearing colorful costumes: PT Barnum, the inventor of show business (??). There’s a new musical film about Barnum’s life and work coming later this year, and a new trailer for The Greatest Showman is now online.
You might not be able to tell that The Greatest Showman is a musical from the trailer, which hints at but mostly underplays this element – except the final title card promises “original songs by the Academy Award winning lyricists of La La Land,” so there you have it.
