Twenty years ago, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen and a host of other basketball players made up the Dream Team. The world had never before, and has never since, seen the likes of an ensemble of talent put together for a professional sport.
The Dream Team performed for the United States of America in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, dominating the opposition by an average of 40 points—a record that has remained unchallenged. The team brought home the Gold and made their way into the history books.
The 2012 Summer Games in London marks the 20th anniversary of the Dream Team’s victory in Barcelona, and with that anniversary comes the release of a documentary that tells us—for the first time ever—the inside story behind the formation of the Dream Team and their journey to Barcelona.
Titled “The Dream Team”, the documentary shows off an inside look at the selection process, the on-court battles and clashes of personality between the players, and just about everything else.
Right Guard will be presenting the documentary on June 13 on NBA TV, so be sure to catch it then. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak.
