Generally speaking, when a non-hotel company decides to get into the hospitality business, it ends in disappointment. I’m thinking of the late, lamented Shoney’s Inn, and my own personal favorite, Hooters Inn. But innovation happens when fools rush in where angels fear to tread, so I have high hopes for The DogHouse, an upcoming “craft beer hotel” from BrewDog in Columbus, Ohio.
Unlike Hooters Inn, The DogHouse will not just be a regular old hotel next to BrewDog’s new sour brewery in Columbus. Instead, it will take the concept of a “beer hotel” to the limit, with a shower beer fridge in your bathroom (no beer showers though, understand), Punk IPA on tap in your room, and even beer-based spa treatments, shampoos, and body washes.
You can get in on the ground floor, so to speak, of The DogHouse at the project’s IndieGoGo campaign right here. A night in the hotel, which will go for around $200, can be snagged for just a $95 pledge through the duration of the campaign.
