Even superheroes get old, so it shouldn’t shock me that it’s been almost ten years since I went to see The Dark Knight at its midnight premiere in my hometown theater, then was so excited by it that I couldn’t get to sleep after I finally made it back home. Now, the film is on the cusp of celebrating its tenth anniversary, and a (weirdly limited) re-release is scheduled for the occasion. Variety reports that tickets for the anniversary screening will go on sale this Friday, July 20th, for the following four venues:

  • AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City
  • AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York
  • AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco
  • Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto

Personally, I find it a bit strange that a movie as huge as The Dark Knight would get a re-release in just four theaters, but that’s Christopher Nolan for you, I guess. Perhaps a wider re-release is in the offing as well, so stay tuned for more information.
