I have no idea how this was discovered, but if you have an iPhone you’ll be interested to know that you’re completely vulnerable to an attack that will automatically turn your iPhone off and back on again, and all the attacker has to do is send a very specific text that makes any iPhone crash. Here it is, but please, only use this terrible power for good, rather than evil:

Send that text, and a particularly effective power makes the recipient’s iPhone crash, and the only thing they (or you) can do to protect themselves is to shut off their text notifications entirely. It’s kind of cool that it exists, but it’s also pretty irritating, and hopefully the people at Apple will fix this bug soon.
