Tempescope: The “Ambient Weather Display for Your Home” (Video)

Here’s a fun idea: Imagine if you could capture just a little piece of the weather either just outside your apartment or in your hometown in a small box. That’s the weird-yet-irresistible premise behind Tempescope, the “ambient weather display for your home” about to enter its all-important crowdfunding phase.

When designer Ken Kawamoto first introduced his Tempescope ambient weather display, it was an open-source project you were supposed to build yourself, but now the idea is almost ready for mass production. This version can be synced to weather forecasts anywhere in the world, or just set to what you’re in the mood for, and can produce rain, clouds, and even lightning within its small plastic chamber.

It’s a difficult effect to describe, so you may just want to see the Tempescope in action in the video below. And for more information, and to sign up for when the product launches its crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo in a couple days, head over to its official site right here.
