It’s been said you can tell a lot about a person by the inside of their home. For instance, say somebody shows you a photo of an apartment, and you see a surfboard leaning up against the wall. “Eureka,” you shout, “a surfer lives here!” And if you’re not tired from this demonstration of Holmesian deductive reasoning, you can now look at a lot more of those photos, in the form of a new photography book called Surf Shacks: An Eclectic Compilation of Creative Surfer’s Homes from Coast to Coast and Overseas.
Surf Shacks is the newest coffee table book from Gestalten, and it shows how people who are passionate about surfing live when they’re not “hanging 10” or “grabbing tubes” down at the “beach.” The stories of surfers from all walks of life are told, both through photography and textual content like anecdotes and interviews.
You can pre-order a copy of Surf Shacks, a joint endeavor from Gestalten and surf blog Indoek, direct from Gestalten right here, where it’s priced at $60 and scheduled to ship next month.
