One of the unfortunate byproducts of the transition from tangible media like DVD and Blu-ray to online streaming is the death of bonus material like documentaries, trailers, commentary tracks, and the like. But that might be changing soon, depending on the success of the upcoming digital release of all six Star Wars movies (oh, who am I kidding? This will be a huge success).
The digital set will include both of the famous Star Wars trilogies, albeit in George Lucas‘ preferred “special editions.” But other than that, this is pretty good news for fans, as it represents the first time these movies have been available digitally and in high-definition, along with a crowd-pleasing slew of extra bonus content.
The high-definition digital Star Wars set will go for an actually-quite-reasonable $90 from outlets including Google Play, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video and Xbox Video starting on April 10th. Until then, you can check out a trailer for the collection below, and see more from the Star Wars universe at the franchise’s official site right here.
