When is a tomahawk not a tomahawk? When it’s the Spyderco SzaboHawk, so named for its creator Laci Szabo, the multi-hyphenate martial artist/knife designer/US Marine who designed the SzaboHawk to be right on the cutting edge of tomahawk tech (so to speak).
The Spyderco SzaboHawk is constructed from D2 tool steel almost a third of an inch thick, elegantly weighted for a user-adjusted grip for varying points of impact. It’s also something of a multitool, with a hammer opposite the blade and miniature pry bar taking up the end of the handle.
All in all, the Spyderco SzaboHawk is a fine piece of tomahawk craftsmanship, and if you’re in the market for such an implement you could probably do worse. You could also spend less, since the SzaboHawk is priced at almost $216 on the product’s Amazon listing right here. But if you find yourself needing a tomahawk, you may ultimately regret getting a cheaper one.
