When Mel Brooks directed Spaceballs in 1987, it had been a few years since the height of Star Wars mania. But according to a recent interview with Brooks, he’s not resting on his laurels again now that Star Wars fever has reached a new pitch, and he’s now working on a belated sequel to his cult comedy.
The interview was with Adam Carolla on his podcast Take A Knee, during which Brooks divulged that he hopes to start filming Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money with as much of the original cast as he can get sometime next year. Brooks is no young man, but who knows, maybe this could be his Mad Max: Fury Road and blow us all away in a couple of years.
In the meantime, you can check out the original Spaceballs at its official Facebook page right here. And Michael Winslow, if you’re reading this, just hang in there buddy.
