Not even President Barack Obama is above the siren song of Austin’s inescapable South by Southwest music and culture festival. He was a special guest at the festival earlier this year, and now the White House has recently announced that next month will see the first ever South by South Lawn, its own SXSW-inspired event engineered to celebrate innovation among American youths and entrepreneurs.
South by South Lawn will feature musical performances, movies made by K-12 students, and interactive panels, all held (naturally) on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC. The event will happen on October 3rd, and unlike South by Southwest will be an exclusive, invitation-only kind of deal.
You can get more information on the South by South Lawn festival, as well as details on how to maybe snag an invite, directly from the official White House blog right here. Maybe after Barack leaves the White House he’ll think about moving to Austin instead of back to Chicago.
