You might have read a few days ago about the Ultra-HDTV from LG, which features 4,000 lines of digital resolution (twice as much as “regular” high definition). Now, Sony is getting into the 4k game with the XBR-84X900.
Since actual content that can reach that 4k line is very tough to get, the XBR has a very generous upscaling feature that is supposed to make your Blu-rays look even better than they do now. It also has 3D capabilities, as long as you don’t mind wearing those dumb-looking glasses.
As for price, Sony’s been silent up until this point, but early adopters are almost certainly going to have to pay an outrageous price by television standards.
