What do you expect from a Skull Lamp? If you’re like most people, the only requirement for this particular item is that it be shaped like a skull and provide some nominal amount of illumination, perhaps for writing Beetlejuice fan fiction at midnight. But the Skull Lamp from Nir Chehanowski of Studio Cheha has another extra feature under its hat (or should that be “skull?”).
The Skull Lamp, as you can see in the photo up at the top, looks all the world like a three-dimensional wire-frame skull. But actually, this is an intricate optical illusion, and in reality the lamp is completely flat. The whole thing sits on a birch base and is designed allow the lamp‘s LED light to travel through, so it’s effective as well as looking really cool.
The Skull Lamp’s ersatz 3D effect doesn’t really come through in a photograph, but I imagine it’s quite stunning in person. To experience it, you’ll have to get your own, which you can do here for $120.
