I’m a big fan of the 1970s thriller film Rollercoaster, about a psycho killer who wrecks roller coasters, and the cop who has to stop him. It depends heavily on POV shots of various coasters in action, and now than I’ve seen this video of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s X2 roller coaster shot with a GoPro Camera, I’m starting to think it might be time for a remake.
A GoPro lacks the steadiness of a more traditional film camera, but it can twist and turn, capturing the X2 coaster from a variety of different angles, each one more harrowing than the last. It’s pretty cool, and acts as both a demonstration of a GoPro camera and the X2 roller coaster simultaneously.
You can watch the GoPro footage of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s X2 roller coaster, shot by Jeb Corliss, below. And for more video dispatches from Corliss’ adventurous lifestyle, check out his YouTube channel here.
