The last time Martin Scorsese blessed us with a feature film it was 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street. Now, three years later, Father Martin is back with Silence, a historical drama that would appear to be pretty far removed from Wolf‘s hyperactive vibes, judging from the trailer that’s now online.
Silence is about a 17th century Christian missionary who goes missing in Japan, provoking two of his fellow missionaries to search for what happened to him. It’s based on a 1966 novel by Shusaku Endo that Scorsese has been interested in adapting for years, only now getting all the pieces together and aligned for it to happen.
You can watch the trailer for Silence below. It hits theaters in about a month’s time, on December 23rd, 2016. And in the meantime you can also stay tuned for more information on the movie at Paramount Pictures’ official site right here.
