What’s black and white and read all over? The new Shwood Eyewear “Newspaper Collection” sunglasses, wrapped as they are in re-purposed newsprint for a new way to reuse and recycle old materials.
Each pair of shades in the Shwood Eyewear “Newspaper Collection” has been treated with a special technique that involves condensing 1600 feet of old newspaper into a four-inch log, that’s then cut up and applied to the surface of the sunglasses. As you can see when looking at the collection, the resulting pattern is wood-like, with a lot of whirled grain and even a little bit of leftover text still visible. Bottom line, it’s a visually novel approach to both eyewear design and recycling.
