You could be forgiven for thinking that this gold-plated skateboard from New York skate shop SHUT is some kind of belated April Fool’s Day prank, but it’s apparently very real. And it’s also real expensive, with a price tag of $15,000.
SHUT’s gold-plated skateboard definitely looks good, and according to the product description, its gold-plated parts are also fully functional.
Even so, I don’t imagine many people who drop $15,000 on a gold-plated skateboard to turn around and start bombing with it (it even comes with a pair of cotton archival gloves so you can handle it without smudging), but who knows?
The $15,000 gold-plated skateboard by SHUT in New York City is listed as out of stock on the retailer’s website here, but reportedly it can still be had by visiting SHUT’s retail location in person. If you don’t feel like doing that, though, there are plenty of photos of the shiny skateboard in the above gallery, so check them out.
