If you find yourself in the vicinity of Las Vegas between now and the next two years, you may want to take a few minutes in between drinking heavily and having legal sex in brothels to see a bunch of rocks stacked on top of each other in the desert. It’s Seven Magic Mountains, a new installation by sculptor Ugo Rondinone.
OK, so I was making fun of it a little bit there, but Seven Magic Mountains is actually a pretty cool installation, made up of extremely brightly colored rocks near Ivanpah Valley’s Sheep Mountain, about ten miles away from Sin City. It’s meant as a statement on man’s impact on natural environments, which makes its novel location even more apt.
Seven Magic Mountains is set to be on display for the next two years, but even if you’re not going to make it out to Nevada in time to see it you can check out a few photos in the gallery below. And for more information, check out the tourist attraction/art installation at its official site right here.
