Hey, remember that movie Open Windows from a few years ago? Elijah Wood gets entangled in some sort of dangerous intrigue, and the whole movie is shot from a view of his computer screen? That conceit has been tried a few times since then, and now it’s back with Searching. Here’s the official plot synopsis:
“After David Kim (John Cho)’s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter’s laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter’s digital footprints before she disappears forever.”
There’s a trailer out now for Searching, which is appropriately nerve-racking given the subject matter. Check it out below, and watch out for the movie to hit theaters sometime in August.
