Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, The Johnny Cash Show was a big success for the network that carried it: ABC. At some point during the show’s run, some ABC executive or another decided to reward Johnny Cash with a then-new 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, painted, naturally, in black. Now, more than 40 years after that purchase was made, the car is going up for sale again, this time from auction company Barrett-Jackson.
Johnny Cash’s 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow passed from Cash’s ownership sometime in the 80s (when Cash did not have a popular TV show on the air), and has been meticulously restored before its upcoming appearance on the auction block. Barrett-Jackson also promises extensive documentation proving the car’s prior ownership by The Man In Black, so you won’t have any George Costanza/Jon Voight issues to work out in this case.
The 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow once owned by Johnny Cash will go up for auction from Barrett-Jackson on September 25th in Las Vegas.
