The phrase “portable record player” is generally one that should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, given the inherent size and number of moving parts necessary to play a record in the first place, let alone with any vestige of sound quality. Now, there’s a new portable record player that dispenses with many of the problems baked into the form by way of an extremely novel design: It’s RokBlok.
Believe it or not, RokBlok plays records by riding around them like some kind of musical Roomba. It has built-in speakers, but if the thought of listening to them already makes you dizzy, you’ll be glad to know it’s also connectable to Bluetooth speakers or headphones for a more stable listening experience.
The RokBlok can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter here starting at $59 and up. Hopefully, a version that rolls around the surfaces of CDs at light speed is forthcoming.
