It’s long been an unkept secret that Starbucks Frappuccinos are essentially just milkshakes with a fancy name and some coffee thrown in, but apparently the coffee chain is looking for ever more unexplored territories of decadence to offer their addicted customers. The next is the Roastery Affogato menu, reportedly coming to select Starbucks locations over the next few days.
I’ll spare you from reading an “affogato go to the doctah” joke and instead let you know that the word refers to a delicacy from Italy that combines ice cream scoops with espresso shots. They’re probably terrible for you, and delicious, but at least they’ll keep you awake through the afternoon too.
Starbucks stores with Reserve bars in Washington, D.C., Boston, and Los Angeles will get the Roastery Affogato menu soon, while a few Orange County stores are also set to test a more inexpensive variant on the product. Given that Americans love coffee, and ice cream, I don’t think it’s outlandish to expect this to take off like wildfire over the coming months.
