It’s the Ripple Maker, a machine that creates those intricate designs on the surface of a foamy latte that used to have to be created by patient and/or talented humans.
Granted, with a price tag of over a thousand dollars, the Ripple Maker is almost certainly expected to be sold to coffee shops and restaurants rather than individual persons, but it’s still a pretty cool piece of hardware. A touchscreen interface allows for the selection of designs for the next latte masterpiece, and who knows? Maybe in the future you’ll be able to sketch something on the screen before having it delivered to your table in coffee-and-milk foam form.
Even if you’re not a coffee shop proprietor, you may want to take a look at the Ripple Maker in action in the video below, and see more at the product’s website right here. If you’re in good with any coffee place managers near you, consider nudging them in this direction if you want to try it for yourself.
