Fleet Week in The Big Apple was recently canceled by all of the branches of the US military, but Rick’s Cabaret, perhaps the classiest strip club in the world, is stepping in with their own patriotic gesture for the nation’s armed service members.

Rick’s recently announced that throughout the rest of 2013, anyone with a recognized military ID will get in free to the famous strip club in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Also, during the time when Fleet Week was supposed to be before it was axed due to budget concerns, which is May 24-30, they’ll get discounts on all drinks served at Rick’s Cabaret.

It’s kind of a cool gesture on the part of Rick’s Cabaret, and it makes sense, as the establishment is already a popular hangout for many people in uniform. You can check out a couple of patriotic Rick’s Cabaret photos in the above gallery, and the full statement from the club below.

Entertainers at Rick’s Cabaret/NYC Will Honor Servicemen during cancelled Fleet Week May 24-30

NEW YORK, May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Coast Guard may have cancelled this year’s Fleet Week in the Big Apple, but leading gentlemen’s club Rick’s Cabaret/New York City says it plans to honor servicemen and women anyway with free admission all year.

The popular club at 50 West 33(rd) Street across from the Empire State Building says members of the armed forces will be granted free admission throughout 2013 by showing military I.D. They will also earn discounts on all drinks during the now-cancelled Fleet Week May 24-30.

“We’ve always been a favorite spot for members of the services to relax and interact with beautiful women and we don’t want anyone to feel deprived, just because the military has cancelled Fleet Week,” says Ken Sistrunk, general manager of the venue that Playboy.com has called “the #1 strip club in New York City.”

Fleet week was cancelled by the military as a result of the budget sequestration imposed by Congress.

“Well, we don’t see any reason the guys and gals in the armed services should have to wait ’til next year — come on down and party right now,” Mr. Sistrunk said.
