This October, Canada’s decriminalization of recreational marijuana goes into effect. You can imagine that that means a whole lot of Canadians are planning to fire up in celebration, but a heroic company has even the Canadians who aren’t crazy about inhaling smoke into their lungs covered. It’s called Province Brands, and it has reportedly developed a cannabis beer that gets you extremely high upon imbibing.
Province Brands’ cannabis beer, whatever it may end up being called, doesn’t actually have any alcohol in it. And the brand’s founder Dooma Wendschuh sees it as a potentially world-changing alcohol alternative:
“The idea came from thinking, can we create something that can serve the role that alcohol serves in our society, and can we do that using this monumental sea change that is happening in our world right now?”
Whether or not that sea change will eventually reach outside Canada remains to be seen, but I don’t imagine it will be too long before we can all go to our local liquor stores and pick out a beer that will get us one of many different kinds of high. Stay tuned.
