Most people are probably interested in solar energy in theory, but actually putting it into practice can often seem intimidating or more trouble than it’s worth. In between solving all the other problems of the world, Google recently announced they’re taking on this one too, with what they’re calling Project Sunroof.
Basically, Project Sunroof provides anyone interested in adding solar panels to their home all the information they might need to make that decision – including, most crucially, data on exactly how much energy (and money) they could save based on the amount of sunlight the home in question is exposed to. Right now, it’s only available in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, and Fresno, California, but the plan is for it to be available all over the world before too long.
You can get acquainted with Project Sunroof by checking out the video below. For more info, or to get started on sucking up some of that precious sunlight (if you live in one of the three markets being currently served), head on over to the project’s official site right here.
