Racing video games have always been a bellwether for realism in video games, as players want experience that come closer and closer to the real thing on the track. Project CARS is an upcoming video game that puts a new premium and realism, which is proven by a recent video that places footage from the game side-by-side with actual racing footage.
The video shows two images side by side, both of a McLaren P1 burning up a racetrack. On the left is real life, and on the right is Project Cars, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s often hard to tell which is which. It’s the best possible advertisement for the long-awaited video game, and one that demonstrates just how serious its developers have been in capturing real-life driving experiences in video game form.
