There are times when the world captured by Google Earth looks more like a surreal landscape than the planet as we know it. These are the times captured and celebrated by artist Clement Valla for a project called Postcards From Google Earth.
Postcards From Google Earth is an exhibit intended to be seen in art galleries, but you can see them all online too, which might actually be the most appropriate way to enjoy them given the source material. As for why these glitches in Google Earth happen, it has to do with Universal Texture technology layering flat two-dimensional images into simulated three-dimensional space—but the point is, they look weird.
