If you were a celebrity in the 1970s who went by the discreet name of “J. Nicholson,” “K. Douglas,” or “J. Caan,” you never had to worry about how you were going to get to the Playboy Mansion. That’s because, according to a recent article on Playboy‘s own website, these luminaries had secret tunnels from their homes directly to the Mansion.
You read that right: Much like the Baxter Building or Avengers Mansion, the Playboy Mansion reportedly had secret tunnels that could whisk Hollywood big shots directly to and from the party in secret – no muss, no fuss. These tunnels are probably destined to be shrouded in memory forever, though, and according to the article on the website they were shut down in 1989, coincidentally the same year Hugh Hefner got married to Kimberley Conrad. It’s a story as old as time – your friend gets married, and he shuts down the secret tunnel from your mansion to his.
